Your Flooring Roadmap

A complete guide from
consultation to care

Follow our proven 12-step process — every detail covered so your floor is flawless, start to finish.

Phase 1 · Steps 1–5

Planning, Selection & Pre-Interior Work

From mapping your rooms to a confirmed specification — and getting the site ready before a single plank goes down.

1

Identify Areas

Start by deciding which spaces will have wooden flooring — this shapes every choice that follows.

  • The rooms to cover — living room, bedrooms, office, or the entire home
  • Daily usage in each — kids, pets, heavy furniture, foot traffic
  • Which areas are dry (living, bedrooms) vs. moisture-prone (kitchen, bath)

💡 Pro tip: For open-plan homes, using the same flooring throughout makes the space feel larger and more cohesive.

2

Choose Flooring Type & Patterns

Select the right variant based on usage & budget — then pick the laying pattern that sets the mood.

  • Living rooms & bedrooms: Engineered wood or laminate — warm, durable, beautiful
  • Kitchens & bathrooms: SPC or vinyl — 100% waterproof
  • Offices & commercial: AC4/AC5 laminate — high-traffic rated
  • Balconies & terraces: Outdoor decking — weather-resistant

Patterns: Straight (clean & modern) · Herringbone (classic elegance) · Chevron (designer V-shape) · Diagonal (makes rooms wider) · Parquet (decorative & custom).

💡 Pro tip: Not sure which type fits? Explore the full range on our products page.

Finalize Specifications

Now we get precise. With our experts, you lock in the thickness, shade, finish and technical specs that suit your space and interior style.

  • Thickness: 8mm standard · 12mm premium (better sound insulation) · 14mm with foam backing
  • Shade: Light oak (airy, spacious) · Medium walnut (warm, hides dust) · Dark teak (luxurious, dramatic)
  • Finish: Matte (hides scratches, best for pets) · Satin (subtle sheen) · Textured (authentic grain)
  • AC rating (laminate): AC3 bedrooms · AC4 living areas · AC5 commercial
  • Core (engineered): HDF (cost-effective) · Plywood (moisture-resistant) · HDHMR (best for Indian conditions)
  • Joint & underlayment: Paper / V-Groove / U-Groove edges · foam, IXPE, or moisture-barrier underlay

✅ Specifications are finalised together with experts from Rebel Walls & Floors.

Complete Pre-Interior Work

Flooring is one of the last things to go in. Before it begins, make sure all pre-interior work is fully completed:

  • Fixed furniture installed (wardrobes, modular kitchen, TV units)
  • Wall painting & texturing finished and completely dry
  • Wall paneling, if any, installed
  • Ceiling work (false ceiling, lighting) done
  • For ground floors: termite treatment completed

⚠️ Important: Any civil work done after flooring can cause irreparable damage — dust, dropped tools, paint splatter.

Phase 2 · Steps 6–10

Samples, Measurement & Ordering

You’ve made your choices — now we sample, measure, quote, and lock in your order.

🛈 Already have a ready site, or upgrading an existing floor? You can begin right here — start at Step 6. Steps 1–5 cover new builds and full renovations.

6

Request Site Sample

Reconnect with your executive and request physical samples of your selected variant & thickness for an on-site review. Never decide from a catalog alone.

  • See the actual colour and grain under your room’s lighting
  • Feel the texture underfoot — walk on it barefoot
  • Hold samples against your walls, furniture, and curtains
  • Compare 2–3 shortlisted options side by side

💡 Pro tip: View samples at different times of day — morning and evening light can make the same floor look completely different.

Select Final Colour

With samples in hand, choose the final flooring colour that ties the room together. We check it against:

  • Wall paint
  • Wall paneling
  • Wardrobes and fixed furniture
  • The overall interior theme — modern, classic, or transitional

✅ Once your colour is confirmed, we prepare your order and move to precise measurement.

Site Measurement & Assessment

Our expert team visits to take precise measurements — one of the most critical steps:

  • Laser-measure every room — exact square footage with 5% wastage factored in
  • Check floor level across the surface (max 2–3mm variation per 2 metres)
  • Assess moisture levels — critical for laminate and engineered wood
  • Identify uneven areas that need self-leveling compound
  • Measure door-bottom clearances — doors may need trimming (floor adds ~16–20mm)
  • Check skirting requirements and profile types needed

📋 You’ll receive a detailed quotation within 24 hours — no hidden costs, no surprises.

Review & Confirm Order

Before we order materials, you review every detail:

  • Go through the quotation line by line — product, quantity, rate, total
  • Verify the flooring variant, shade, thickness, and pattern
  • Confirm skirting and profile selections
  • Check the installation timeline and schedule

Once approved, we place the order 15–30 days before installation to guarantee stock availability. Your materials are reserved exclusively for your project.

Site Preparation (Buffer Period)

During the 15–30 day buffer before installation, ensure your site is fully ready:

  • Surface leveled to zero — use self-leveling compound if needed
  • Required floor depth prepared (underlayment + flooring thickness)
  • Complete deep cleaning — no construction dust or debris
  • Site is empty — no furniture, no ongoing work from other trades
  • Wall paneling and painting fully completed and dry
  • No water or moisture ingress anywhere on the floor
  • Granite/marble thresholds fixed at bathroom entrances (and any other spots the expert flags) — set higher on both sides to block water either way
🧹Clean, leveled site — ready
Phase 3 · Steps 11–12

Installation & Beyond

The final stretch — our expert team lays your floor, and we set you up for years of enjoyment.

11

Installation Day

This is what we’ve been preparing for. Our skilled in-house team arrives and handles all materials and flooring work:

  • Final surface inspection — level, dry, clean, and ready
  • Deep clean done and site fully empty — no other trades working during installation
  • Underlayment laid — moisture barrier + acoustic foam
  • Flooring installed in your chosen pattern — plank by plank, row by row
  • Expansion gaps (8–10mm) maintained at all walls — essential for climate stability
  • Skirting, beading, and transition profiles fixed
  • Final cleaning — we leave your space spotless

⏱️ Timeline: 2–5 days depending on area. Your floor is ready to use immediately — no curing, no waiting.

Post-Installation Care

We don’t just install and disappear. Here’s what happens after:

  • Avoid civil work in the area: no drilling, tiling, or heavy work near the new floor — this prevents damage and ensures longevity
  • Walkthrough: we inspect every corner with you — joints, edges, transitions, skirting
  • Care guide & do’s and don’ts: use felt pads under furniture · sweep or vacuum regularly · clean spills immediately · no wet mopping
  • Warranty registration: your 10–25 year product warranty + 1-year installation warranty is activated
  • Lifetime support: questions or issues? We’re a phone call away — forever

🎉 Congratulations! You’re now enjoying a premium wooden floor — warmer, quieter, and more beautiful than anything you walked on before.
